I’m a found metal sculptor out of Fort Collins, CO, a recent graduate of CSU, and a full-time welding foreman at a local fabrication shop. In the past five years, I’ve had numerous shows locally at coffee shops and regional art shows and my work has also been shown in Denver, CO at selected galleries in the Santa Fe art district. More recently I’ve created a few new pieces, but much of my energies have been directed toward working on a secret project, my cyborg. The culmination of a 5-year brainchild, the cyborg will be greater than life-size, a true “sculpture in the round” (viewable from any point in a 360 degree arc) and the very best of my work to date. It is currently 65% complete and very much within my style of found metal fusion. Pictures to follow soon.

In the realm of style, much of my work tends to contain many cast-off or recycled industrial elements. Some of my pieces resemble whimsical machines of fantasy that could work if given just the right gear or sprocket, but in reality none of them are kinetic. When I build a new piece, I want the viewer’s eye and imagination to create the movement in the piece. And for all the machines I’ve disassembled to collect the parts within, I still have little knowledge of how a simple engine works, I just find it much more interesting to create my own machines. Though I have boxes and boxes of old parts and found objects, the real challenge is in choosing which ones to use that will best fulfill my vision for that piece. In keeping my vision of an art piece open-ended, I seek to retain some of that innocence and joy of simply making art. When I create, I want to create something that is totally unique, a form that is borderline sci-fi/ fantasy/ alien, a form that has never been seen before. Ultimately though, my work relies heavily on constructivist techniques, found art materials and inspiration to create a bizarre and new fusion of forms.
