Stand By Judge

Who is Doug Meyer?

This run of the mill Renaissance man, with a flair for color and design, took an interesting road to becoming a fine art dealer. Through the years, Doug Meyer had studied theatre arts, interior design and space planning, and psychology. “I would visit a friend or relative’s home and, in a comfortable and entertaining way, leave their furniture and artwork totally rearranged”, says Doug. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in 1979, wanting to persue design and theatre, but needing secure and steady income, he answered an ad in the New York Times and became of all things a commodities broker. Big money brought an empty “success” so Doug employed the brokerage skills acquired on Wall Street with his unyielding creative needs.

In the late 1980’s, as Director of Sales at then major fine art publisher Dyansen Editions, the foundation was laid which has resulted in Doug Meyer Fine Art. For over a decade galleries call when they are searching for works of art. Doug’s honesty and direct answers have built a successful business and a name to trust. Dougmeyerfineart.com

Poetry:

The Poet Speaks

It will be words
that tangle the web,
that hook the fish.

It will be words
over our heads
at final rest.

It will be words
in the darkest places
where seeds rest.

It will be words
in quiet closets
lost in the woods.
